I. Basic Information
1. Core ingredient: Sulfur (S), purity ≥ 99.0% (according to GB/T 2449-2006).
2. Physical Appearance: Yellow solid at room temperature, available in block, powder, granular, or flake forms; exists in both crystalline and amorphous states.
3. Key physical properties: Melting point 112.8–119.3℃; boiling point approximately 444.6℃; insoluble in water, readily soluble in carbon disulfide; poor electrical and thermal conductivity; relative density (water = 1) approximately 2.0.
4. Hazard Classification: Class II Flammable Substance; Autoignition Point: 205℃; Dust/vapor mixed with air can form an explosive mixture.
II. Core Features
1. Production of sulfuric acid: Sulfur dioxide is generated through combustion, then oxidized catalytically and reacted with water to produce sulfuric acid, which is used in the chemical industry and other sectors.
2. Rubber industry: Used as a vulcanizing agent to crosslink rubber molecules, thereby enhancing strength, elasticity, and wear resistance.
3. Chemical and Materials Field: Used for the production of sulfides, dye intermediates, and pesticides; also serves as a pulp-making agent in papermaking and a concrete additive.
III. Usage Restrictions
1. Application domain restrictions: Prohibited for use in products that come into direct contact with the human body, such as food and pharmaceuticals; permitted for use only in industrial applications.
2. Safety Operating Restrictions: Store away from sources of ignition and heat; do not store together with oxidizers or strong reducing agents. Wear protective equipment during operation and ensure adequate ventilation in the work environment.
3. Environmental Emission Limits: Sulfur dioxide must be treated to meet emission standards, and waste sulfur as well as sulfur-containing waste must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
